2. PROPOSED ADAPTATION MODEL Abstract When we watch television or computer monitor under a certain viewing condition, we partially adapt to the display and partially to the ambient light. As illumination level and chromaticity changes, the eye’s white point changes between the display’s white point and the ambient light’s white point. In this paper, we propose a model that would predict the white point under a mixed adaptation condition including display and illuminant. Finally we verify this model by experimental results. Adaptation modeling in this paper consists of following four stages. 1) Transformation from daylight condition to interior condition. (XDYDZD to X1Y1Z1) 2) Transformation from interior condition to viewing condition 2 which has various luminance level and chromaticity. (X1Y1Z1 to R2G2B2) 3) Transformation from viewing condition 2 to mixed adaptation condition. (R2G2B2 to R2’G2’B2’) 4) Transformation from mixed adaptation cone responses to XYZ tristimulus values. (R2’G2’B2’ to X2Y2Z2)
